For our third class we made shirts with the Arabic letter N on them and watched a Voice of the Martyr’s DVD.
ن is the Arabic letter for N, pronounced noon, meaning “Nazarene” or Christian, ISIS uses it as a mark of shame. There is a worldwide movement to take it back. We are proud to be Christians and wear it to symbolically stand with our brothers and sisters. As a class, we are going to wear the shirts hoping their will start conversations and we can share with people what is happening.
We shared several different pictures from a Google Image search and the students chose how they wanted theirs to look. They chose different sizes and placements for their shirts.
To make the Nun shirts we used black t-shirts and red acrylic paint. We used black markers to sketch before we painted, when I made my shirt a few months ago I used chalk.
We watched a DVD from Voice of the Martyrs called Share Their Voice.
I found some of the videos on YouTube, there are more testimonies on the disc.
